Mike Cima has a comprehensive work experience spanning over several decades. Mike started their career in 1985 with the Army National Guard, serving in various engineering, logistics, and transportation-related roles for over 20 years. During this time, they held positions such as Major, battalion operations officer, battalion logistics officer, company commander, and company executive officer.

In 1990, Mike transitioned to the Illinois Department of Transportation, where they worked for 17 years in the Bureau of Bridges and Structures. Mike held multiple positions during this period, including Acting Hydraulic Unit Chief, Consultant Services Unit Chief, Planning Squad Leader, Planning Engineer, and Design Engineer.

In 2007, Mike joined Hampton, Lenzini, and Renwick, Inc. (HLR) as Vice President. Mike managed the Springfield office and the Structural Engineering Department and oversaw large bridge projects, as well as bridge inspection, evaluation, planning, and design.

Finally, in 2016, Mike assumed the role of Chief Structural Engineer at Quigg Engineering Inc. (QEI). Mike leads the Structural Engineering Department, providing oversight on transportation structure projects, including inspection, analysis, evaluation, planning, and design.

Throughout their career, Mike Cima has demonstrated expertise and leadership in the fields of structural engineering, transportation, logistics, and planning.

Mike Cima attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1987 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications including Element Level Bridge Inspection Certified from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida from the Florida Board of Professional Engineers, Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Licensed Professional Engineer in Iowa from the Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Examining Board, Licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri from the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions & Professional Registration, Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, and NBIS Certified - Program Manager from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
