Axel Bruns is an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow and Professor in the Digital Media Research Centre at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. They serve as a Chief Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, focusing on responsible and ethical decision-making across various sectors. Axel has authored several influential books, including _Are Filter Bubbles Real?_ and _Gatewatching and News Curation_, and has been involved in academic leadership as a past President of the Association of Internet Researchers.
