Carsten Scharlemann

Carsten Scharlemann is an accomplished aerospace engineer with extensive experience in both academic and industry settings. They currently serve as the Founder and CEO of R-Space and the Head of the Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, where they oversee innovative engineering courses and student projects. Previously, Carsten contributed to space propulsion and advanced concepts at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, where they managed significant projects for the European and NASA space agencies. They were also a member of the Board of Advisors for the Aerospace Cluster Lower Austria and have served on the Advisory Committee of the Aeronautics and Space Agency since 2018. Carsten holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Diplom-Ingenieur from Technische Universität München.
