Ben Schmidt has extensive work experience in the legal field. Ben worked at Radian from 2016 until the present, starting as a VP, Associate General Counsel before becoming the SVP, Deputy General Counsel. At Radian, Ben provided legal advice and support on various matters, including mortgage banking, insurance, real estate, and litigation. Ben also played a key role in driving legal and operational improvements and represented the company in its industry trade group. Prior to Radian, Ben worked at Ballard Spahr LLP from 2007 to 2016, representing clients in insurance coverage disputes, construction and real estate matters, and other legal issues. Before that, they were an associate at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP, where they gained experience in appellate briefs, trial preparation, and monitoring compliance.
Ben Schmidt attended Tufts University from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations & History. Ben then went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School from 2002 to 2005, earning a Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Additionally, they have obtained certifications for the Connecticut Bar, Massachusetts Bar, New Jersey Bar, and Pennsylvania Bar.
