RainBox is building a new class of water system for a world where water is harder to treat, more variable, and under increasing pressure.

Where water is good, RainBox outcompetes.
Where water is hard to treat, it becomes the only viable option.

Most technologies assume stable conditions. That assumption is breaking down.

Drought concentrates salts, metals and contaminants. Floods also create turbidity. Chemical loading increases. Coastal aquifers are compromised by seawater intrusion. At the same time, industry, agriculture and data centres are placing growing pressure on water abstraction.

The result is a rising volume of water that exists, but cannot be used — where conventional systems degrade or fail.

RainBox is designed for this reality.

We are developing a modular purification system based on engineered evaporation and condensation, producing high-purity water without membranes or heavy consumables, and maintaining performance where others struggle.

At its core is a highly efficient thermal system, capable of running on mains, solar, or waste heat via simple heat exchange.

This enables a different approach: not just treating good water more efficiently, but unlocking water that was previously unusable.

In doing so, RainBox helps build climate resilience — enabling access from variable, contaminated, or saline sources, and reducing reliance on centralised infrastructure. The same platform can support greywater recycling, expanding usable supply.

Applications span household, off-grid, agriculture, desalination and industry, with initial focus on the hardest environments.

RainBox has progressed from concept to early validation, with Cranfield collaboration, Innovate UK backing, selection as a Qualified Team in XPRIZE Water Scarcity, finalist recognition in the Global Prize for Innovation in Water, and pilots confirmed with Oxfam, farms, and off-grid sites.

Now it’s about proving it in the real world.
