Darren Smith

Darren Smith is an experienced engineering professional with over 20 years in multi-disciplinary design and checking, focusing on track engineering. They have worked in various roles, including Track CRE/Principal Engineer at SYSTRA and currently serve as the Head of Permanent Way at Ramboll, where they lead innovative projects for clients such as Network Rail and Transport for London. They hold an MEng (Hons) in Engineering Design and Manufacture from the University of Hull. Prior positions include Senior Consultant at GHD and Principal Engineering Manager at Amey, where they managed design teams and enhanced team competencies.
