Ryan Flatland has a diverse work experience starting from 2013. Ryan began their career as an Engineering Intern at Kibblewhite Precision Machining Inc. in June 2013. Ryan then worked as an Engineering Intern at Northrop Grumman Corporation from June 2014 to September 2014.
In January 2016, Ryan joined Zoox as a Mechanical Engineer, and later transitioned to the role of Attribute Lead for Energy Management, Drive Quality, Powertrain & Braking Performance in September 2017. During their time at Zoox, they were a core member of the Vehicle Engineering team and had various responsibilities, including supporting early definition of use case and performance targets for an autonomous vehicle, conducting preliminary analysis and simulations, creating CAD and packaging, planning and executing vehicle tests, and collaborating with EE and FW teams on vehicle build and debugging. Additionally, they were involved in systems engineering activities for torque distribution and regen blending strategy, as well as controls engineering tasks to ensure smooth and safe longitudinal motion.
Most recently, Ryan joined Range Energy in February 2022 as a Lead Engineer in Simulation and Controls.
Ryan Flatland received their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Ryan attended the university from 2010 to 2015.
