Alan Foster has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of technology and telecommunications. Alan started their career at Axcent Networks, Inc in 2006, where they held various roles such as Voice and Data Field Technician for Verizon and FAE/Transport Engineer for AT&T. Alan then joined T-Mobile in 2008, initially as an Associate Switch Technician and later as an Engineer in the Tier 2 Alcatel team. In 2010, they became a Switch Technician before being promoted to the position of Engineer, Tier 2 Alcatel. In 2015, Foster moved to the role of Engineer (IMS Lead) in Tier 2 (Voice Core Ops) at T-Mobile.

In 2016, they transitioned to AlienVault as a Technical Support Engineer, where they later became a Technical Sales Engineer. Alan stayed at AlienVault until 2018 when they joined Rapid7 as a Senior Solutions Engineer with a focus on Detection and Response. Throughout their time at Rapid7, Foster held positions such as Senior Solutions Engineer, Specialist, Managed Detection and Response, and Senior Domain Engineer, Incident Response Team Lead. Currently, they are serving as the Manager of Specialist Security Solutions Engineering (D&R/SOAR) at Rapid7, a role they took on in July 2021.

Alan Foster attended San Antonio College from 2005 to 2007, where they pursued studies in Psychology and History. In 2012, they enrolled in the Acme Packet Certification Program to become an Acme Packet Support Engineer. Alan successfully obtained their Acme Packet Support Engineer certification in August 2012. Additionally, in December 2017, Alan Foster obtained the USM Certified Security Engineer (AVSE) certification from AlienVault.
