Angela Orthmeyer has a diverse range of work experience in geospatial data analysis, data science, social science research, project management, environmental consulting, and marine biology research.

Angela is currently working at RapidSOS as the Lead Geospatial Data Analyst, where they manage the GIS team and is responsible for geospatial data processing, analytics, software development, and R&D. Prior to this role, they worked as a GIS Data Analyst at the same company, where they designed and implemented a data processing pipeline for geospatial information using Python, geopandas, and Postgres/PostGIS.

Before joining RapidSOS, Angela worked at CKM Analytix as a Data Scientist, where they developed and deployed customized analytics to improve operational efficiency for Fortune 2000 accounts. Angela also communicated the results of their analyses with clients and refined them based on client feedback.

In their previous role as a Natural Resources Social Scientist at CSS-Dynamac, Angela conducted interdisciplinary research on the connection between human communities and coastal and marine resources. Angela collected and analyzed spatial data and synthesized it into technical reports and decision support tools used to inform environmental impact statements and marine spatial planning processes in Florida, the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

During their time at the Yale School Forests, Angela served as a Project Manager and Community Outreach Coordinator. Angela led a team in conducting surveys to assess forest ecosystem services and analyzed the data using Stata statistical software. Angela also conducted interviews with local landowners and forestry experts and organized workshops on sustainable forest management.

At the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, Angela worked as a Research Associate in Ecosystem Services, conducting research on maximizing and enhancing ecosystem services provided by Yale's campus. Angela also worked as an Environmental Consultant and GIS Expert, collaborating with forestry experts on a socio-ecological assessment and creating maps using Esri ArcGIS.

Angela's work experience also includes an internship at Ecotrust, where they conducted a market analysis and feasibility study for a Community Supported Fishery program, and a role as a Regional Coordinator and Community Environmental Conservation Volunteer with Peace Corps Panama, where they led community development projects and implemented a sustainable business strategy for a conservation and ecotourism program.

Finally, Angela worked as a Marine Biology Research Assistant at the US EPA, conducting laboratory experiments to determine the impact of climate change on coral-algal systems. Angela also developed laboratory procedures and managed a literature library to improve operations and access to publications.

Angela Orthmeyer has a diverse education history. Angela started their academic journey in 2001 at the University of Richmond, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology and Behavior. This degree took their four years to complete, as they graduated in 2005.

After their undergraduate studies, Angela took a break from formal education and focused on professional experiences. However, in 2009, they decided to further enhance their knowledge by pursuing a Master of Environmental Management degree from Yale University. Angela specialized in Social Ecology during their two-year program at Yale, completing it in 2011.

In 2016, Angela's passion for data science led their to enroll at Principal Analytics Prep. Angela undertook an intensive program and successfully earned a certification as a Certified Data Analytics Practitioner. This program helped their gain expertise in the field of Data Science.
