In these roles, LaValley led teams of software developers and focused on creating a secure and scalable cloud-based platform to revolutionize the healthcare industry. Their work at athenahealth also encompassed projects related to external and internal security.

LaValley's early career includes a role as Vice President of Engineering & Co-Founder at Motus from 2002 to 2010. In this position, they were responsible for product development, intellectual property strategy, and strategic business planning.
