Zach LaValley

Zach LaValley has extensive work experience in various leadership roles in the technology industry. Zach currently serves as EVP Engineering at RapidSOS, where they lead a team of engineers focused on modernizing and innovating in the public safety sector. LaValley's role involves ensuring the availability of timely data to assist during emergencies.

Prior to their current position, LaValley worked at Takeoff Technologies, Inc. from 2019 to 2022. Zach held multiple roles during their tenure, including President & CTO, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Technology Officer. In these positions, LaValley played a vital role in bringing an economically viable eCommerce solution to the grocery market through a reliable and scalable hyperlocal micro-fulfillment platform. Their efforts enabled grocery stores to thrive online and deliver an exceptional experience to their customers.

Before joining Takeoff Technologies, LaValley worked at athenahealth from 2009 to 2019. Zach started as a Senior Developer and progressed to roles such as Software Architect, Executive Director of Engineering, and Vice President of Engineering for athenaCollector. In these roles, LaValley led teams of software developers and focused on creating a secure and scalable cloud-based platform to revolutionize the healthcare industry. Their work at athenahealth also encompassed projects related to external and internal security.

LaValley's early career includes a role as Vice President of Engineering & Co-Founder at Motus from 2002 to 2010. In this position, they were responsible for product development, intellectual property strategy, and strategic business planning.

Zach LaValley completed their undergraduate and graduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1999 to 2004. Zach earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Electrical Engineering during this time. Their field of study also included Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

In addition to their formal education, Zach has obtained several certifications. In June 2020, they earned an Agile Leadership certification from Scrum.org. Zach also obtained certifications in Professional Scrum Master I and Scrum Developer Certificate of Proficiency, both from Scrum.org in the same month and year.
