Alan Nichol

Co-Founder & CTO at Rasa

Alan Nichol is the Co-Founder & CTO of Rasa. Alan was previously the Co-Founder & CTO of treev, a cloud-based productivity tool that was funded by Techstars. The company shut down the product because of low user retention. Prior to that, they were a PhD student at The University of Cambridge, where their research was about developing machine learning algorithms for use in computer simulations of matter at the atomic scale. Alan has also worked as a Research & Development Engineer at Procter & Gamble, where they developed analytic and numerical models for the properties of novel materials, as well as multiphysics tools enabling virtual material design. Alan has also been a Guest Researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology and a Carnegie Scholar at University of Edinburgh. In addition to their work in research and development, they have also worked as a Science Communicator at Edinburgh International Science Festival.

Alan Nichol studied at the University of Cambridge, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in engineering. Alan also studied chemical physics at the University of Edinburgh, where they earned an MChemPhys with industrial experience.

Alan Nichol reports to Melissa Gordon, CEO. Jamie Macdonald - Head of Security & Infrastructure, Sonam Pankaj - Developer Advocate, and Tanja Bunk - Senior Machine Learning Researcher report to Alan Nichol. They work with Linda Schuster - VP, Operations, Lisa Hufnell - Manager, Talent Acquisition, and Alex Weidauer - Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer.
