Tom Fox is currently the Vice President of Forest Productivity and Sustainability at Rayonier Inc, a role that they have held since 2017. They previously served as a Professor of Forestry at Virginia Tech from 2000 to 2017, where they were the Honorable Garland Gray Distinguished Professor and co-directed the Forest Productivity Cooperative. Tom also continues to contribute as a Professor of Forest Soils and Silviculture at Virginia Tech College of Natural Resources. In addition to their position at Rayonier, they hold the title of Vice President at the Society of American Foresters, starting in 2025. Tom earned a PhD in Soil Sciences from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Forestry from Virginia Tech, alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry from the University of Maine.
