From 2004 to 2009, Thangiah served in the beverage industry, followed by roles at notable firms such as ACP Cables PLC and NIPSEA Group, focusing on territory management and market penetration. The educational background includes a Bachelor of Management Studies in Marketing from the Open University of Sri Lanka and a G.C.E-A/L from St. Anthony's Boys School.
