Komala Pillay

Komala Pillay is a Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology and Division of Anatomical Pathology at UCT/NHLS, with a robust academic and professional background in the field. They have served as an Associate Professor of Anatomical Pathology at UCT/NHLS Red Cross Children's Hospital from 2016 to 2019 and have been a Histopathologist at NHLS / UCT from 2005 to 2019. Currently, Komala holds multiple leadership positions, including Board Member and President of the College of Pathologists at the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and Sub-Saharan Country Advisor for the Royal College of Pathologists. They are actively pursuing further qualifications with the Royal College of Pathologists and the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. Komala earned an MBChB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an MMed in Anatomical Pathology from the University of Cape Town/NHLS.
