David M. Sutton

David Sutton serves as the Superintendent of Rutherford County Schools, a position held since July 2013. Prior experience includes serving as Assistant Superintendent within the same district and as an Adjunct Professor at Western Carolina University, where instruction focused on educational leadership for doctoral candidates. David Sutton's career in education began at Transylvania County Schools, where roles included Executive Director, Director of Human Resources, Director of Information and Analysis Services, Assistant Principal, and Teacher. Academic credentials include a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and a Master of School Administration from Western Carolina University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
