That's the Read the Room method.

Read the Room is dedicated to changing the way the Texas education system works. We serve low-income Pre-K through 2nd grade classrooms. We train teachers to rethink and redesign their approach to curriculum. By putting students' communities first, children engage with in new and stronger ways. Classroom engagement leads to higher grades and academic achievement. Research shows that children who see themselves represented in the curriculum they learn also have higher retention and graduation rates. Our curriculum specialists familiarize themselves with the classrooms and communities they assist. We have a hands-on approach that provides professional development and constant support through out the school year. We provide new pathways for classrooms to connect with the community and for the community to connect to the classrooms through our monthly events, our Community Inclusion Program.

Through the Community Inclusion Program, Read the Room hosts monthly community events at local community spaces. We will provide food, activities, and empowerment for families and students. These events are hosted by Read the Room in collaboration with United Way Austin's Greater Reading Coalition. Our Community Inclusion Program is designed to empower parents, excite children, and create connections between the classroom and the community.

Think of it as an in-person Mr. Rogers experience. Without the cardigan.
