Anthony Schultz

Founder and Product Manager at Reading Hero

Anthony Schultz has been working in the education field since 2009. Anthony started their career at Baltimore County Public Schools as an Instructional Coach, Educational Technology Consultant, and Technology Liaison. In this role, they used deployment services to remotely deploy software, printers, and various configuration changes, as well as maintained the school’s software and hardware inventories using Destiny Asset Manager. Anthony also trained staff in the use of new software and hardware as they are integrated into Common-Core-aligned curricula. In 2019, they moved to Westowne Elementary School, where they are currently working as an Assistant Principal. In 2014, they also founded Reading Hero, a supplemental educational app that provides real-time feedback to students learning sight words. Anthony recruited one developer and one graphic designer, oversaw UX, graphic design, and coding, and used an agile product cycle to ensure continual improvement, internal testing, and feedback implementation during each sprint. The minimum viable product was released in Spring 2018. The app is designed for children ages 4-8 (pre-K to third grade) who are learning to read, and their next steps include extending the user story to teachers.

Anthony Schultz earned a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2005. Anthony then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Teaching from Towson University in 2008.
