Josh Davis

VP of Robotics at READY Robotics

Josh Davis is currently the VP of Robotics at READY Robotics. Josh has held this position for 6 years and 3 months, and prior to that, they were the Vice President of Engineering, the Vice President of Platform, and the Director of Robotics. Josh started at READY Robotics as an intern.

Prior to their work at READY Robotics, Josh Davis was a PHD student at Johns Hopkins University. There, they conceptualized and developed a team of modular heterogeneous robots capable of autonomous repair and diagnosis. Josh also designed 3D parts in SolidWorks and prototyped the robotic system using advanced manufacturing techniques. Additionally, they implemented a hierarchical control structure between a centralized processor and custom-made PCBs with PIC microcontrollers to execute autonomous repair procedures. Lastly, they created algorithms to generate uniformly distributed layers between two given objects for applications in conformal additive manufacturing. Josh demonstrated the fidelity of these layering algorithms through simulation in MATLAB.

Before their time at Johns Hopkins University, Josh Davis worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the United States Government. There, they coordinated with DoD and commercial customers to contract, plan, develop, and execute survivability/vulnerability testing. Josh also prepared cost estimates for customers using Microsoft Project and maintained schedule integrity. Additionally, they interfaced with environmental, safety, and security personnel to guarantee project compliance with all laws and standing operating procedures. Josh delivered detailed test plans and final reports documenting test setup, procedures, and results.

Josh Davis has a PhD in Robotics from The Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (with a Robotics Track) from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park. Josh is also an Eagle Scout and has a Six Sigma Green Belt from The University of Maryland.

Each of these colleagues has a different focus within the company, but they all work together to help make Josh Davis' vision for the company a reality.
