David Schmid

David Schmid has a broad range of work experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. David is currently serving as the Head of Parametric Products at Reask, starting in December 2022. Prior to this, they worked at New Reinsurance Company Ltd. (NewRe) for 11 years. At NewRe, their roles included Senior Structurer, Actuary Structuring, Structurer, and Pricing Actuary & Nat Cat Modeler at Munich Re Capital Partners. Before that, David worked as an SQL Reporting Developer at Glacier Re in 2010 and as a Catastrophe Risk Analyst and GIS Analyst at Glacier Group from 2009 to 2010.

David Schmid received their Master of Science (MS) degree in Geography from the University of Zurich, where they studied from 2003 to 2009. In addition to their degree, they obtained certifications in Risk Financing from The Institutes in June 2017 and as a Certified Catastrophe Risk Analyst (CCRA) from RMS in May 2014.
