Marcus Jellen has a diverse work experience across multiple industries. Most recently, they worked as a Technical Advisor at Haley Guiliano LLP starting in 2023. Prior to that, Marcus was a Scientist I at Element Biosciences from 2022 to 2023, where they focused on synthesizing designer fluorescent dye molecules for DNA sequencing. Marcus also worked as a Process Engineer at Intel Corporation from 2021 to 2022, where they handled chemical-mechanical planarization and utilized SPC, APC, and DOE methods.
Marcus also has research experience, having worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Los Angeles from 2016 to 2021. During this time, they specialized in synthesizing complex molecular building blocks for crystalline organic and hybrid materials and conducted various characterization techniques. Additionally, they were an NSF IRES Fellow at RWTH Aachen University in 2018, where they studied catalysis and NMR.
Earlier in their career, Marcus served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2013 to 2016. Marcus conducted research on the synthesis of analgesics and natural products. Marcus also gained customer service experience as a Barista at Starbucks from 2013 to 2014 and as a Food Service Worker at Sandburg Cafe from 2012 to 2013.
Marcus Jellen began their education in 2011 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Marcus pursued further study and completed their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organic Chemistry at UCLA from 2016 to 2021.
