Luka Lukic

Luka Lukic has a diverse range of work experience in the field of autonomous driving applications, computer vision, and robotics. Luka is currently employed as the Vice President of Autonomous Driving Applications at Recogni since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at HERE Technologies as a Senior Principal Architect, where they led the ML/DL/CV core algorithm and architecture design efforts, contributed to map attribute detection and aggregation, and implemented label-efficient machine learning development initiatives.

Before joining HERE Technologies, Luka worked as an Adjunct Researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico from January 2020 to December 2022, specializing in computer vision, systems, and robotics. Prior to that, they held various roles at MOBIS Parts Europe N.V., including Department Head of LiDAR and Imaging Radar. In this position, they developed the full LiDAR perception stack for ADAS and AD for European OEMs, established software development workflows, and implemented an artificial data platform for LiDAR development and validation.

Luka's earlier experiences include roles as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, and Deputy Manager at MOBIS Parts Europe N.V. to develop LiDAR perception stack, as well as roles at Instituto Superior Técnico and EPFL as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Graduate Research Assistant, respectively. Luka also gained experience as a Graduate Research Student at Institute Mihailo Pupin.

Throughout their career, Luka has demonstrated strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and expertise in developing cutting-edge algorithms and architectures in the field of computer vision and autonomous driving. Luka has played a crucial role in advancing technological advancements and efficiency in industries such as map attribute detection, LiDAR, dashcams, and image recognition.

Luka Lukic has a strong educational background in the field of engineering. Luka obtained their Master's Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the University of Novi Sad, where they studied from 2004 to 2009. Luka then pursued further education in the field of Electrical Engineering and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) and Instituto Superior Técnico from 2010 to 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Luka Lukic has also acquired several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. These certifications include "Giving Sense to Your Leadership" and "Building Your Leadership Skills" from HEC Paris, obtained in June 2023 and May 2023 respectively. Luka also completed various courses in deep learning, including "Deep Learning," "Sequence Models," "Convolutional Neural Networks," "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization and Optimization," "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," "Structuring Machine Learning Projects," "Deploying Machine Learning Models in Production," "Machine Learning Engineering for Production (MLOps)," "Machine Learning Modeling Pipelines in Production," "Introduction to Machine Learning in Production," "Machine Learning Data Lifecycle in Production," "Optimize ML Models and Deploy Human-in-the Loop Pipelines," obtained from DeepLearning.AI between 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, Luka completed courses in practical data science on the AWS Cloud from Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as "Productive Leadership" from LinkedIn, "Python for Computer Vision with OpenCV and Deep Learning" from Udemy, and "Clean Code" from Udemy, all in 2022 and 2023.
