Josh Chen

Josh Chen is currently a software engineer at Recurrent. Prior to that, they were a full stack engineer at JustCast where they built an analytics interface to allow podcast hosts to view their subscriber statistics in-depth, built an application to allow podcasters to create animated videos to promote their podcasts, and enhanced backend performance to handle 40 million entries of subscriber statistics. Josh also developed and designed RESTful service and APIs, and tested API’s and functionality utilizing TDD principles like rspec. Additionally, they programmed and designed database tables and migrate with Active Record, implemented Stripe API to accept subscription payment, implemented Dropbox API to sync files change, and implemented reverse proxy with NGINX to track download statistics. Furthermore, they designed and built an affiliate system.

Before their time at JustCast, Josh Chen was a principal financial analyst at Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc. for six years and one month. Josh was also a senior financial analyst at ConcertoHealth for one year and one month. Theirfinancial analyst career started at CareMore Health Plan where they worked for seven years and seven months. At CareMore Health Plan, they developed and maintained Income Statements that broke data at various levels (Medical provider, Medical region, Medical product), developed spreadsheets that captured specialty medical service cost across time for Medical product, and developed spreadsheets that captured specialty costs by region across time. Josh also maintained multiple databases used to create Medical Loss Ratios and performed ad hoc analysis for Senior Management.

Josh Chen attended the University of California, Los Angeles from 2009 to 2010, studying statistics. Josh received their Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007, majoring in mathematics. Josh has also completed courses on Rails with Active Record and Action Pack, Ruby on Rails: An Introduction, and Machine Learning through Coursera.
