Alex Gaither

Alex Gaither is a seasoned professional in the fields of oncology and immunology, currently serving as Vice President of Oncology & Immunology and Interim Head of Discovery at Recursion since November 2024. Prior to this role, Alex held the position of Vice President of Oncology and Head of Discovery at Exscientia from December 2021 to November 2024, focusing on drug discovery and utilizing advanced technologies like artificial intelligence. Alex has also contributed as Vice President of Translational Medicine at LG Life Sciences Boston Innovation Center and as Senior Investigator 2/Associate Director at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research. In earlier roles at Novartis, Alex worked as a Senior Investigator in oncology drug discovery. Alex earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from Evangel University.
