Chioma Ukonu has been working in the business and waste management sectors since 2011. Chioma began their career as a Customer Care Specialist and Enterprise Key Account Manager at Mobitel Limited. In 2013, they moved to United Bank For Africa (UBA) Plc as a Customer Service Officer. In 2012, they co-founded RecyclePoints. In 2018, they co-founded RecyclePoints Foundation and also began working as a Waste Auditor at 2CG Waste Management Consulting Services Inc. In 2020, they joined The Salvation Army as a Regional Program Coordinator and in 2021 they started working as a Waste Technician at AET Group Inc. In their roles, they have participated in waste sample collection, led the Pathway of Hope Program, acted as the liaison between the Ministry of Social Services and clients, and carried out waste audits.

Chioma Ukonu began their education in 1993, when they obtained their SSCE from Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Abuloma. In 2002, they earned their Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Industrial Physics (Electronics option) from Federal University of Technology Owerri Nigeria. In 2016, they obtained a Certificate in Social Sector Management from Pan Atlantic University (EDC), Victoria Island, Lagos State. In 2017, they completed a program in Entrepreneurship and Business at Drake University. In 2019, they began their studies in Social Work at the University of Regina, which they are still pursuing. In 2020, they began their studies in Sustainability at the University of Regina. In 2015, Chioma Ukonu also obtained a Climate Reality Leader certification from The Climate Reality Project.
