Core Network Engineer at Redcentric

Carl Norton has a diverse range of work experience in the field of network engineering. Carl started their career at NCR Corporation in 2014, where they served as a Field Service Engineer (Telecoms) responsible for installations, commissioning, break-fix, and troubleshooting of Ciena and Cisco equipment in BT/Virgin Media Core networks and customer data centers. Carl also worked on large-scale data center deployment projects during their tenure at NCR Corporation.

In 2019, Carl joined Jurassic Fibre as a Service Operations Engineer, where they gained expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting Huawei and Cisco network elements. Carl was responsible for alarm/event monitoring, correlation, enrichment, and analysis using TCS HOBS CDM to ensure network reliability. Carl also focused on pattern identification for common and repeat faults to maintain network performance.

In 2020, Carl moved to Wildanet, where they held multiple roles. As the Lead Network Engineer, they played a pivotal role in designing, configuring, and deploying Wildanet's core network elements across data centers and PoP sites. Carl implemented highly available Juniper MX204 BNG routers, MP-BGP/MPLS topology with L2/L3VPN and pseudowires, A10 CGNAT appliances, Adtran TA5K XGS-PON chassis, and Fortinet firewalls. Additionally, Carl served as the Assistant Network Manager, contributing to the smooth functioning of the network.

Currently, Carl is employed at Redcentric as a Core Network Engineer starting from 2023.

Carl Norton studied at Exeter College from 2011 to 2013, where they obtained a BTEC Level 2 degree in Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, they have earned several certifications, including Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional - Service Provider (JNCIP-SP) from Juniper Networks in August 2022, Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist - Service Provider (JNCIS-SP) from Juniper Networks in September 2021, Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise Core (ENCOR 350-401) from Cisco in June 2020, and Cisco CCNA (200-301) from Cisco in April 2020.
