Matt Carrano

Matt Carrano is a Principal Interaction Designer at Red Hat, specializing in user experience design with a strong background in user research, usability evaluation, and product management. They have taught as a lecturer at both Boston University and Northeastern University, sharing expertise in user experience design and digital media. Matt previously served as a senior interaction designer at Red Hat, where they led the PatternFly project, an open-source design system, and contributed significantly to enterprise IT applications. They also held various roles in companies like Eastman Kodak, demonstrating a robust career in design and technology across diverse sectors. Their leadership experience includes serving as President of the Board for Somerville Open Studios since its inception in 2004. Matt is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Technology Strategy and Policy at Boston University while completing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University.
