Hao YUAN

Materials & Failure Analysis Scientist at Redlen Technologies Inc.

Hao Yuan has a diverse range of work experience, starting in 2009 as an R&D Intern at Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute where they focused on welding and materials properties. Hao then moved on to China Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. in 2011 as an R&D Intern, working on CAD drawings and welding control units. In 2012, they joined COMAC as a Research Associate, specializing in additive manufacturing and CAE. Hao later became a Research Engineer at Baosteel Group Co., where they played a key role in the development of spray forming technology and implemented thermal and structural stress analyses. In 2014, Hao obtained their Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, where their research focused on high energy x-ray diffraction and the invention of a novel characterization method. From 2018 to 2020, Hao worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at McMaster University, developing X-ray/electron spectro-microscopic techniques and collaborating with various research facilities. Their most recent positions include Senior Scientist at SiriusXT, where they developed a soft x-ray imaging microscope, and their current roles as a Research Associate at the University of Victoria and a R&D project researcher at Redlen Technologies Inc.

Hao YUAN began their education at Northwestern Polytechnical University from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science. They then pursued a Master's degree in Materials Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 2011 to 2014. Lastly, Hao YUAN obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Materials Science and Engineering from École des Mines de Saint-Étienne from 2014 to 2018.
