Ben Pope has been working in the tech industry since 2003. Ben started their career at Warwick Control Technologies as a Software Engineer, where they developed and maintained a graphical network analysis tool in C++ for Windows and implemented the first time-triggered controller area network (TTCAN) stack on an 8-bit automotive grade μController in embedded C. In 2006, they moved to Trayport Limited where they worked as a Software Engineer, developing and maintaining electronic trading software and related tools in C++, designing and implementing a successful automated trading platform in C#, and designing and implementing exchange connectors to ICE and NYMEX in C++. In 2011, they joined yyResearch as a Senior Software Engineer, where they were a founding member of a small team to design and implement a greenfield distributed messaging system with high throughput and low latency, and designed and implemented a cross-platform client library primarily for mobile. In 2017, they joined Pusher as a Tech Lead - Senior Software Engineer, where they managed the technical direction for application services, advised and collaborated with product teams to build a scalable platform for multiple products, and drove SRE across the platform. In 2020, they founded Perpendiculayer Ltd and also began working as a Software Engineer at Redpanda Data.
Ben Pope attended Willingdon from 1993 to 1997. From 1997 to 1999, they attended Park College, where they studied Computer Science, Maths, Physics, and Further Maths. Ben then went on to the University of Warwick, where they earned an MEng in Computer Systems Engineering from 1999 to 2004.
