Marco Smit

Marco Smit is an experienced mining professional with a robust background in drill rig operations. Currently serving as a Master Driller at Redpath Mining since February 2021, Marco operates all Trackless Mobile Machines underground at Modikwa in Burgersfort. Prior to this role, Marco worked at Glencore from June 2014, initially as a Drill Rig Operator, focused on drilling and supporting underground facilities for blasting and production purposes. Marco also held a similar position at Glencore (formerly Xstrata Nickel) from December 2010 to October 2013, where responsibilities included drilling and support for blasting underground. Marco's career in drilling began at Shaft Sinkers (Pty) Limited from April 2009 to June 2010. Marco completed education at Hartbeespoort High, achieving a Matric Grade 12 from 2002 to 2006.
