Mike Chelius has more than 27 years of tax accounting expertise and is a technical expert on tax issues related to privately held businesses in construction, real estate, retail, advertising agencies, and other professional services. As a member of REDW’s commercial accounting practice, he is respected for his ability to assist clients in expanding their businesses and preserving and growing their financial assets.

Mike provides a wide range of tax consulting services, both corporate and personal, including tax planning, projections, preparation, retirement planning, and succession planning. He provides clients with a maximum deduction profile by proactively analyzing complex elements of a business’ financial situation and plan in order to align the owners’ financial goals with tax-efficient planning. With his superior knowledge of tax planning strategies, he specializes in helping clients defer or avoid taxes, which includes increasing and accelerating tax deductions and tax credits and taking full advantage of beneficial tax-law provisions.

A Certified Public Accountant, Mike is a member of both the New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants (NMSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), which has also awarded him the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential. Mike serves as the Treasurer and Director of the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce Board and is a 2009 graduate of its Leadership Sandoval County program. He also serves as Treasurer for the Sandoval County Leadership program.

In 2017, Mike was recognized by the New Mexico Society of CPAs as an Outstanding Member in Public Practice.
