Simar Singh has a diverse work experience in the humanitarian sector. Starting in 2006, they worked as a Program Manager at the Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict until 2010. From 2010 to 2012, Simar worked as a Consultant at Conflict Dynamics International. They then returned to Conflict Dynamics International in 2012 and held the role of Coordinator for the Humanitarian Negotiations Initiative until 2016. From 2016 to 2018, Simar worked as a Senior Program Officer at Conflict Dynamics International's New Frontiers of Humanitarian Action program. In 2018, they joined RefugePoint as a Senior Programs Manager and later moved on to become the Refugee Self-Reliance Initiative Lead. Currently, Simar is serving as the Chief Program Officer at RefugePoint.

Simar Singh completed their high school education at Vivek High School, earning a High School Diploma, before matriculating to Mount Holyoke College. At Mount Holyoke College, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, which they completed between the years 2002 and 2006. Subsequently, Simar furthered their education by attending Harvard Kennedy School, where they obtained a Master of Public Policy degree with a focus on Political and Economic Development from 2010 to 2012.
