Chad Smith

Chad Smith is an accomplished attorney and leader with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Town of Bryson City since 2019, Chad also holds a position as a member of the Board of Directors for Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park since January 2025. Previously, Chad worked as In House Counsel at Refundo from November 2014 to April 2017, and gained valuable legislative experience as a legal intern for the Office of U.S. Congressman Heath Shuler in 2007. From 1999 to 2005, Chad served as a senior manager at Smith & Company, where responsibilities included client representation in audit compliance. Chad's legal practice, the Law Office of Chad R. Smith, PC, has been operating since July 2017. Academic credentials include a JD from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School, an MBA from The Citadel, and a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
