Bates Rambow has a diverse work experience spanning from 2007 to the present. They started their career as a Field/GIS Technician with the South Carolina Military Department/Army National Guard. Bates then worked as a Stormwater & GIS Coordinator for the City of Holly Springs, Georgia, where they managed stormwater management programs and provided GIS support services.
In 2010, Bates joined the Town of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, initially as an Engineering Technician and later as a Stormwater Data & Compliance Administrator. In these roles, they were responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance and managing spatial and non-spatial databases related to stormwater management. Notable achievements include maintaining compliance with permits and designing a GIS-based drainage infrastructure network.
In 2015, Bates founded CartoLab LLC, where they served as the Founder, Lead Consultant, and Full Stack Developer. CartoLab specialized in geospatial consulting and application development, particularly in building map-based web applications. They utilized technologies such as PostGIS, React, Mapbox, Esri, and OpenLayers to help companies and organizations optimize their data utilization.
Currently, Bates is working as a Full Stack Developer at Regrid since 2022.
Bates Rambow's education history begins in 2002 when they enrolled at Wofford College. They completed their Bachelor's degree in Business Economics at Wofford College in 2006. Bates then pursued further education by joining the University of South Carolina from 2006 to 2008, obtaining a Master's degree in Earth and Environmental Resource Management. In 2010, Bates attended North Carolina State University where they earned a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science, which they completed in 2011.
