Charney Thomas is an experienced aerospace engineering professional with a strong background in software engineering and operations. Currently serving as the Manager of Software Engineering at Relativity Space since December 2020, Charney leads the ground software team responsible for test and launch sites. Prior to this role, Charney held various positions at SpaceX from January 2015 to December 2020, including Senior Test Operations Engineer, where responsibilities included automation authoring for Falcon and Starship development, and operating consoles for critical testing phases. Charney's earlier experience includes roles at Lockheed Martin as a Systems Engineer, and significant service in the United States Air Force, where responsibilities ranged from maintaining A-10C aircraft as a Lead Mechanic to supporting F-15C/D aircraft operations. Charney holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Astronomy from the University of Central Florida.
