John Crooks has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. John began their career at Sensible Services LLC as a Crew Supervisor from June 2010 to May 2017. In 2017, they joined Salve Regina University and held multiple positions within the institution. John started as a User Support Services from February 2017 to May 2017, followed by being a Media System Specialist from May 2017 to August 2018, and eventually became a Media Systems Specialist and Weekend Office Manager from August 2018 to May 2019.

John also played an active role in the Salve Regina Cyber Security Club. John served as the Research Chair from January 2017 to May 2017, responsible for researching and expanding on topics covered during club meetings. Additionally, as a Graduate student, they acted as a Cyber Security Club Consultant from September 2017 to May 2019, advising the club's president and board on meetings, activities, and partnerships with other organizations on campus.

Currently, John is working at ReliaQuest since June 2019. John began as a Security Operations Center Analyst, responsible for monitoring, documenting, and responding to security threats within the networks of Fortune 500 companies. John also collaborated with customers to implement best practices, improve security policies, and provide support to various departments. In May 2021, they transitioned to the role of Threat Hunter and Intrusion Response Analyst before being promoted to the position of Threat Hunting and Intrusion Response Lead in July 2022.

John Crooks earned a Master's Degree in Homeland Security with a focus on Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics from Salve Regina University from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Administration of Justice from the same university between 2013 and 2017. John also completed high school at Norwich Free Academy from 2009 to 2013. In addition to their degrees, they hold certifications in Entertainment Rigging Sessions from ALPS / Advanced Lighting & Production Services, as well as IC3 Computing Fundamentals and IC3 Key Applications from Certiport France.
