Andrea O'Brien

Andrea O'Brien currently serves as the Senior Director of Journal Development & Editorial Engagement at RELX since December 2022. Prior to this role, O'Brien spent over a decade at Elsevier, holding several positions including Director of Content Acquisition, Publishing Director for the biochemistry portfolio, and Executive Publisher in biomedicine/biochemistry. O'Brien's career also includes experience as a Publisher in Biotechnology and Customer Communications Manager, as well as editorial roles at FEMS. O'Brien completed a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at University College Cork, followed by a PhD in Microbiology with a focus on food microbiology from London South Bank University, and a Master's degree in Food Science and Technology from University College Cork. Academic experience includes a postdoctoral position at Universiteit van Amsterdam.
