Steven Emmert

Steven Emmert is an accomplished legal and public policy professional with extensive experience in privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and technology policy. As the Senior Director of Government & Industry Affairs at RELX since April 1999, Steven leads the Global Government Affairs Team on issues related to privacy, data security, and cybersecurity. Previous roles include Director of Public Records Policy and Government Affairs at LexisNexis, where responsibilities encompassed communication with legislative bodies and the creation of corporate privacy and data use policies. Steven also served as Senior Corporate Counsel at LexisNexis, focusing on compliance with privacy laws and negotiating data content agreements. Earlier experience includes roles as Senior Attorney at OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Administrative Law Judge for the State of Ohio, and Staff Attorney for the Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Educational qualifications include a J.D. from The Ohio State University and a B.A. in Anthropology from the same institution, where Steven graduated with distinction.
