Derek Bye

Derek Bye currently serves as Senior Vice President and Head of Modeling at RenaissanceRe, a position held since December 2023. Prior to this role, Derek was Vice President at Validus Research Inc. from September 2015 to January 2024 and held the position of Director at Aon from June 2006 to August 2015. While at Aon, Derek specialized in catastrophe modeling, consulting, and utilizing RMS and AIR models to assess risks from natural and man-made disasters. Earlier experience includes a role as Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Minnesota from September 2004 to August 2006, where responsibilities involved lecturing and preparing educational materials. Derek Bye holds a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics, both from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
