Adrian Duong has a diverse work experience in software engineering, bioinformatics, and research. Adrian joined Render in 2018 as an Engineer. Prior to that, they worked at Symphony Commerce from 2014 to 2018, where they initially started as a Software Engineering Intern and eventually became a Senior Software Engineer and Technical Lead. At Symphony Commerce, Adrian focused on performance and reliability enhancements, including implementing a custom Spring multi-level clustered Redis cache, tuning application and infrastructure parameters, and leading load-testing efforts.
Before joining Symphony Commerce, Adrian had internships at Twitter and Symphony Commerce in 2013, where they gained valuable experience in software engineering. Additionally, they have worked at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research from 2011 to 2012, where they held the positions of Bioinformatics Technical Analyst and WormBase Web Developer. At the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, Adrian was involved in analyzing cancer genomics data, integrating new data sources, and porting genomics tools into Java.
Adrian's career started in 2010 as a Bioinformatics Research Assistant at Zimmerly Lab, University of Calgary. Overall, Adrian has a strong background in software engineering and bioinformatics, with experience in performance optimization, automated testing, data analysis, and research.
Adrian Duong completed a Bachelor of Computer Science with a specialization in Honours Bioinformatics from the University of Waterloo. This academic journey took place from 2009 to 2014. In addition, Adrian obtained a Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification from The Linux Foundation in March 2021.
