John Wei, PhD, MBA, is a Senior Director at Applied Ventures, specializing in venture investments across sectors such as semiconductor, AI/ML, and sustainability. Previously, John was a significant member of the SABIC Ventures investment team, focusing on advanced materials and energy investments globally. Earlier in their career, John held roles at The Linde Group and General Electric, primarily in the petrochemical and alternative energy industries. John earned a Bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University, a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University, a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Rutgers, and an MBA from UCLA with a focus on Finance and Entrepreneurship.
