Botond Bognár is a Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley, focusing on spatial computing and the interaction between people and 3D digital content in extended reality (XR) spaces. As a co-founder of both REscan and Pillantas, they have been instrumental in developing innovative human-computer interfaces and spatial data solutions since moving to the Bay Area. Botond previously founded Villa Budapest, a cultural center in Hungary, and served as CEO for multiple development firms, where they were involved in creating mixed-use city centers. They were also a visiting researcher at the Berkeley Center for New Media, exploring the transitions of communication design within XR environments.
