Jonathan Silver

Director at Resources for the Future

Mr. Silver is one of the nation’s leading clean economy investors and advisors. Named one of the country’s top-ten greentech “influencers”, Mr. Silver led the federal government’s $40 billion clean energy investment fund during the Obama Administration.

Today, Mr. Silver is the Managing Partner of Tax Equity Advisors LLC, an advisory firm that has invested over $400 million in solar power projects on behalf of its’ Fortune 500 client base.

Mr. Silver is on the board of Plug Power (PLUG: NASDAQ), the country’s leading manufacturer of hydrogen fuel cells, and Intellihot, a leading player in tankless water heating. Earlier, he was on the boards of EEmax (water) and Sol Systems (energy finance). He is a board member of several sector-focused non-profits, Resources For the Future and American Forests, and previously served on the board of the Wind Energy Foundation.

Mr. Silver co-founded Core Capital Partners, a leading venture firm and was Chief Operating Officer of Tiger Management, one of the country's largest and most successful hedge funds. He began his career at McKinsey and Company.

Mr. Silver has served as Senior Advisor to four U.S. Cabinet Secretaries: Energy, Commerce, Interior and Treasury. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has been on the boards of such organizations as the Federation of American Scientists, the Federal City Council, the Community Foundation of the National Capitol Region and WETA (public television). He served as special advisor to the Chancellor of the DC public schools and taught entrepreneurship at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

An honors graduate of Harvard University, Mr. Silver did graduate work at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris and the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. He has received both Fulbright and Rotary Graduate Fellowships.
