Retouch League was created to make visible what has long been invisible:
The retouching layer of photography, the final, decisive space where images become what the world ultimately sees.

Retouching has long been the invisible part of photography - essential, but rarely respected as a profession with its own standards and accountability.

As AI rapidly enters creative workflows, our mission has expanded.
Not to oppose innovation.
Not to slow progress.
But to ensure that human craft, ethics, and authorship do not quietly disappear as systems get faster.

Today, images can be produced before understanding form.
 Results can appear without lived process.
 Standards can shift without anyone clearly holding responsibility.

We believe:
Craft without protection disappears.
Technology without ethics destroys industries.
Progress without people is not progress.

Retouch League is building an ecosystem that:
Makes retouching visible as a profession - not an afterthought
Establishes shared standards in an AI-augmented creative world
Restores authorship, accountability, and psychological ownership to image-making

Brings retouchers, photographers, studios, educators, and creatives into open dialogue about what is acceptable, responsible, and human

Our first initiative is Retoucher of the Year - a global competition across 50+ countries designed to spotlight real skill, judgment, and decision-making.

Because visibility is the foundation of value.
And standards cannot exist without recognition.

Alongside this, we are developing:

An education platform rooted in real industry workflows
