Reuth was founded in 1937 by women who fled the impending Holocaust. Its core operations comprise two main fields: subsidized community housing for low-income older adults and a rehabilitation hospital. Reuth manages and operates one of Israel’s leading rehabilitation hospitals and a wide array of day clinics. Patients who come to Reuth are living through the lowest moments of their lives. They are just beginning to realize the full extent of their trauma and the life-changing magnitude of their conditions. They require holistic and personalized rehabilitation to recover physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and psychologically. Reuth is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Tel Aviv University School of Medicine. It is recognized by the Israel Medical Association for residency in physical therapy, general rehabilitation, and geriatrics. The hospital has 364 beds in 12 inpatient departments that specialize in General Rehabilitation, Respiratory Rehabilitation, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Head Injuries, and Long-term Acute Care. Patients from all over the country are referred to Reuth by their HMOs. Each year, 3,500 individuals undergo state-of-the-art care at our day clinics, and 2,500 receive hospitalization at Reuth. The subsidized community housing is made up of apartments in three adjacent buildings in the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood of Tel Aviv. It provides a warm home to underprivileged older adults, many of whom are Holocaust survivors and victims of Nazi tyranny. In addition to receiving an affordable place to live, they also benefit from weekly enrichment classes; communal holiday celebrations; field trips; help with apartment maintenance; subsidies for medical needs not covered by insurance; one-on-one assistance from a social worker; and more.
