Michael Brown

Vice President, Research & Development at RevBio

Michael Brown has a wealth of experience in research and development and engineering. Michael began their career in 2005 as a Test Engineer Co-Op at Valeo Wiper Systems. In 2006, they worked as a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op at Magnum Shielding Corporation, where they increased sales of custom cables and expanded the product line for import motorcycle cables by 75%. In 2007, they worked as a Distribution Requirements Planning Co-Op at Johnson & Johnson and a Research Assistant at the Rochester Institute of Technology. At Johnson & Johnson, they analyzed SKU level inventory and sales history trends using SAP and BW, and utilized Microsoft Excel Macros for reliable generation of summary reports of 5+ years inventory data for over 250 product codes. At Rochester Institute of Technology, they redesigned test set-up, using Solidworks, to characterize fluid flow through the impeller of the ventricular assist device.

In 2008, they returned to Johnson & Johnson as a New Product Development Engineer II, where they were a project lead for improvements to existing suture passing device and a technical co-lead for development of a new neurovascular stent delivery system. Michael also designed production equipment using Solidworks, tested fitment and ease of use with production personnel with rapid prototype components, and updated appropriate documentation for product design history file and regulatory submissions. In 2011, they worked as a New Product Development Engineer at Atrium Medical, where they were the technical project lead for the design of a new catheter platform utilized on the infusion balloon product line.

In 2013, they worked as an R&D Project Manager at InVivo Therapeutics, where they managed 20+ member cross-functional project team to ensure timely completion of program deliverables to bring product concept through development to active clinical trial. Michael also managed research activities of second generation technology for chronic spinal cord injury. In 2014, they worked as an Engineer III, Technical Development at Biogen Idec and as Director Of Research Development and Co-Founder at RevBio, Inc. In 2017, they completed their Master's Degree in engineering and management at MIT School of Engineering and and Sloan School of Management, where they were a Fellow, System Design & Management. Michael's focus of research was the identification of unmet needs and optimization of the associated device solutions of novel adhesive biomaterials.

Michael Brown's education history includes a Master of Science (M.S.) in System Design & Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) between 2017 and 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, General Management Diploma, and Management Processes Certificate from the Rochester Institute of Technology between 2003 and 2008. Michael also holds an Honors Diploma from Hilton Central High School, which they attended between 2000 and 2003. In addition, Michael Brown has obtained several certifications from Coursera Verified Certificates and the American Management Association, including Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting Results Without Authority, R Programming, The Data Scientist’s Toolbox, AMA’s Comprehensive Project Management Workshop, and Project Management Professional (PMP) from The Project Management Institute (PMI).
