Cara Martel

Manager of Conservation Breeding & Reintroduction

Cara Martel is the Manager of Conservation Breeding & Reintroduction at Re:wild, where they focus on scaling conservation impact through managed breeding initiatives and reintroductions for species on the brink of extinction. Cara previously served as Zoological Curator for Rhinos & Hoofstock at Busch Gardens Tampa, managing a diverse ungulate population and promoting conservation efforts through education and research. With over twenty years in the zoological field, Cara has held various roles, including Animal Care Specialist and Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Missouri-Columbia. They have contributed to conservation initiatives both locally and globally through leadership positions with the Florida Association of Zoos & Aquariums and the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund. Cara holds a Master of Science in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Facilities Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Millikin University.
