Jim Bertel

Jim Bertel is a seasoned Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance leader currently serving as Executive Director at Reinsurance Group of America, where they spearhead the enterprise security risk management program and promote risk-informed decision-making. Previously, they held various roles within the same organization, including Team Lead for Global Security Risk Management and Director of Security Compliance & Risk Management, where they significantly improved security initiatives and compliance efforts. Jim also has a background in security analysis and healthcare technology, having worked at companies such as Signature Consultants and Berland Imaging & MRI. They obtained a Bachelor of Science from Western Governors University and have held certifications including CISSP, CISM, and CRISC.
