Malcolm Finlay began their work experience in 2007 as an SpR in Cardiology at Barts and The London NHS Trust. Malcolm then joined Epicardio Ltd in 2011 as the Head of Medical. In 2013, they moved to Barts Health NHS Trust, where they held the roles of Specialist Registrar (Cardiac Electrophysiology) from 2013 to 2014, and Consultant Cardiologist from 2014 onwards. Malcolm also worked at University College London as a Senior Clinical Research Fellow from 2009 and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer from 2017. Currently, they are serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Echopoint Medical Ltd since April 2019 and as a Board Member and Founder at RHYTHM AI Ltd since September 2020.

Malcolm Finlay's education history begins with their enrollment at Bishop of Llandaff School in Cardiff from 1993 to 1995. After completing their time at Bishop of Llandaff School, they attended the University of Oxford from 1995 to 1998, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Physiological Sciences. Following this, they continued their education at the University of Oxford from 1998 to 2001, earning a degree in Medicine (BM BCh). Malcolm then went on to pursue further studies at the University of Oxford until 2001, where they obtained a degree in Medicine (BMBCh). Finally, they joined UCL and completed their PhD in Cardiac Electrophysiology from 2009 to 2013.
