Melkis Espinal

Melkis Espinal has over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering. In 2021, they were a Lead Software Engineer (Backend) at LOOP, where they designed the backend architecture in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and selected the backend tech stack. Melkis worked directly with the CTO on a recurrent basis to come up with software architectural decisions, as well as defining short- and long-term technical strategies and goals for the benefit of the company. Melkis also lead, managed, and mentored a team of 5 engineers and screened resumes and interviewed candidates.

In 2018, they were a Co-Founder and Senior Software Engineer at Scan Genius Solutions, where they lead, managed, and mentored a team of 3 engineers daily and reported directly to the CTO. Melkis also architected the Engineering Bible, which points out how to use Atlassian Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products and services.

In 2017, they were a Software Engineer at Fiber Mountain, The Glass Core Company, where they implemented a front-end web prototype that communicated with RESTful API to be showcased to a Fortune Top 3 Company.

In 2016, they were a Research Fellow at Quinnipiac University, where they proposed, designed, and implemented a web-based weather service for Quinnipiac University. The web application collected weather data from weather stations deployed in two different campuses, stored the data, and presented it to the Quinnipiac community through a website.

Melkis Espinal obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering from Quinnipiac University between 2015 and 2017. Prior to this, they attended Hunter College from 2011 to 2013. Additionally, Melkis Espinal has obtained several certifications from Coursera, including "Architecting with Google Kubernetes Engine: Foundations" in January 2022, "Elastic Google Cloud Infrastructure: Scaling and Automation" in January 2022, "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Core Services" in September 2021, "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Foundation" in August 2021, and "Google Cloud Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure" in August 2021.
