Michael Smit has a diverse work experience. Michael started their career at Continuant as a Customer Service Specialist from February 2016 to January 2017. Michael then transitioned to the role of a Nortel Tier 1 Engineer from January 2017 to January 2018, and later became a Nortel Tier 1 - Level 2 Engineer from January 2018 to May 2018.
In 2020, they joined Right! Systems, Inc. as a Managed Services Technician, where they were the first point of contact for networking issues and provided support to customers via phone and email. Michael held this position from October 2020 to June 2021. Michael then became a Network Engineer at the same company, where they managed multiple corporate networks concurrently, including optimizations, expansions, and technology refreshes. Michael was also the lead engineer for technology refreshes at multiple customers.
Throughout their work experience, Michael has gained proficiency in networking and has had contact with various network topologies and environments on a daily basis.
Michael Smit completed their education at South Puget Sound Community College. From 2012 to 2015, they pursued an Associate of Science degree in Physics. Michael then returned to the same college from 2018 to 2020, this time majoring in Cybersecurity and Network Administration to attain an Associate of Science degree.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Michael has obtained multiple certifications related to networking and cybersecurity. In November 2020, they earned the NSE4 certification from Fortinet. Following that, in May 2021, they acquired the PCNSA certification offered by Palo Alto Networks. In July 2021, they obtained the PCNSE certification from the same institution. Furthermore, in April 2022, Michael gained the Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA-Junos) certification issued by Juniper Networks. Lastly, in May 2022, they received the Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist certification, again from Juniper Networks. Michael also earned the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching certification, with a completion date in February 2022.
